YAHWEH / YESHUA

Exodus 33:19  And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. (This reveals that God’s great name was proclaimed not by the sound of a name, such as Jehovah or Yahweh, but rather by his acts of goodness and more.)

Exodus 34:5, 6  And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. (Again God’s name was revealed by His gracious acts of kindness.)

Exodus 34:14  For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

Matthew 6:9  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (Jesus specifically told us to pray “Our Father” He did not say “Our Yahweh” which art in heaven. If it is so important to use the “holy name” why did not Jesus use Yahweh?)

Here are a few Spirit of Prophecy references…

COL 147.4 Then press your petition to the Father in the name of Jesus. God will honor that name.

4T 32.3 Man must overcome as Christ overcame. And then, through the victory that it is his privilege to gain by the all-powerful name of Jesus, he may become an heir of God and joint heir with Jesus Christ.

LP 137 The discomfiture and humiliation of those who had profaned the name of Jesus, soon became known throughout Ephesus, by Jews and Gentiles. Unmistakable proof had been given of the sacredness of that name.

Lt 158, 1906, par. 11 The time has come when the Lord’s name is to be magnified in all your camp-meetings. Let the name of Jesus Christ be glorified in all these meetings.

RH May 28, 1895, par. 3 “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Although some say that the Bible presents “Yahweh” as the God of the Israelites, there are some passages which make clear that this deity was also worshiped by other peoples in Canaan. The Jewish God “Yahweh” Originated in “Canaanite Vulcan,” the term of YHWH as god of metallurgy originated among semi-nomadic copper smelters between the Bronze and Iron Age, he was not worshipped only by Jews. What makes this all so interesting is that “Vulcan” is the pagan “god of fire” including the fire of volcanoes, deserts, metalworking and the forge in ancient Roman religion and myth. He is often depicted with a blacksmith’s hammer. The Vulcanalia was the annual festival held August 23 in his honor. His Greek counterpart is Hephaestus, the god of fire and smithery. In Etruscan religion, he is identified with Sethlans.

In 1844 CE the ruins of the ancient city of Soleb in Nubia was excavated by the archaeologist Karl Richard Lepsius who documented the site in detail but did not excavate. In 1907 CE James Henry Breasted arrived and photographed the site but, again, engaged in no excavation. It was not until 1957 CE that a team under the archaeologist Michela Schiff Giorgini, excavated the site and found reference to a group of people described as “Shasu of Yahweh” at the base of one of the columns of the temple in the hypostyle hall. The temple was built by Amenhotep III (c.1386-1353 BCE) and the reference to Yahweh established that this god was worshipped by another people long before the time when the events of the biblical narratives are thought to have taken place.

From all appearances the god “Yahweh” was a pagan deity, long before Messianic Judaism promoted that god to the world, as the “God” of the Bible.

One more thought, if it is so important to change the “J” on Jehovah to a “Y” to “correct” it, because they didn’t have a “J” in the original language, then we must be consistent in removing the J throughout the entire scriptures. Some examples of this would be….

Gen 18:19—  Justice = Yustice & Judgment = Yudgment

Rev. 1:1— Jesus = yesus & John = Yohn

2Sa 15:8— Jerusalem = Yerusalem

Num 33:50— Jericho = Yericho

And Why does the New Testament writer refer to Jeremiah as Jeremy instead of Yeremiah or Yeremy in Matt. 2:17 and 27:9?

Jos 24:15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Eze 20:39  As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
